This three-coin collection explores the stories of some of the largest mammals to live during the Ice Age and what we have learned from the remains that have been discovered throughout the centuries. Each coin features a scientifically and anatomically accurate reverse design created by palaeo-artist Robert Nicholls with expert guidance from the Natural History Museum.
The collection features two colour-printed editions of each coin – a Brilliant Uncirculated Colour and a silver Proof Colour edition.

The Giant Deer
One of the largest mammals to roam the Earth during the Ice Age, the giant deer had the largest antlers of any known animal, living or extinct. This is the third and final coin in our Ice Age Giants Collection.
The Woolly Rhinoceros
One of the largest mammals to roam the Earth during the Pleistocene Epoch, the woolly rhinoceros had a thick double-layered wool coat to keep it warm during extreme temperatures. This is the second coin in our Ice Age Giants Collection.
The Steppe Mammoth
With an average standing shoulder height of 4 metres and an average weight of around 10 tonnes, the steppe mammoth was the largest mammal to live during the Ice Age. Palaeo-artist Robert Nicholls brings this mighty mammoth to life on a new UK 50p coin.
